In our opinion some features and attributes are worth a lot more than others. For example, 'Picture quality' is hugely more significant than 'Anything else'. Even some of the apparently vital topics like, 'Sound quality' are not as significant as they might at first seem.
The reason for this is that to have a really fantastic sound system built in to a TV is very difficult and as a result rare. What is more important is the ability to attach a great sound system to a TV, should you want to. That is why we include the 'Optical audio' parameter in the 'Sound quality' and 'Connectivity' categories. Having just said what I have about sound, there are still significant differences in the quality of the built in system and we aim to make our scores and comments reflect this.
If you are interested the importance we give to the categories is as follows:-
Picture Quality 50%
Sound Quality 15%
Connectivity 15%
Significant Features 15%
Anything Else 5%
This, we feel gives a fair representation of the overall quality of a TV. However, if a very specific aspect or feature of a TV is more important to you then of course, you can simply give more weight to that aspect.
