You can shop around for a really soft cloth but the problem with most cloths that are soft is they have a large particle size that leaves marks and even causes streaks on the plasma or LCD TV screen. And if the cloth is not specifically recommended then there is nobody to 'blame' if it scratches the screen. you need products made specifically for cleaning delicate screens.
How TV screen cloths work
Very simply it is all down to the particle size. If you wipe a mirror with a regular cloth then some of the marks are gone, some of them get moved about a bit and smear and some simply stays put.
The strange thing is that it doesn't matter how hard you wipe it still has the same effect. This is because the particle size in a regular cloth prevents it from making contact with the mirror consistently. If you could zoom in with a microscopic movie camera it would be like dragging a fork through some sauce on your plate. It doesn't matter how hard you do it you cant move the sauce in between the prongs.
Wipe a hard surface with microfiber and it will make complete and consistent contact with the surface. Not only that but anything absorb able on the surface like fresh finger prints will be absorbed into the cloth.
If a finger mark or something similar is old it leaves a dry hard deposit and a spray which is safe on plasma and LCD TV screens is required.
If you have a Plasma TV with a smooth and/or shiny frame or a glass TV stand the same type of cloth and spray cleaner will work well on them too. But use a separate cloth than the one you are using on the screen.
How to use a microfiber cloth On a Plasma or LCD TV screen
Once you have the TV gleaming a quick wipe or spray and wipe will be enough. To get it gleaming after the first clean read on.
Turn the plasma television off to create a totally black surface. Next position the screen with a gentle (preferably ambient) light source shining on it. This will show up every single speck of dust and all the marks/smears etc. Now clean as described.
Squirt the safe cleaner onto the TV screen. The first time you use it you are battling against all the old marks. Wipe gently until all the marks are gone squirting again if necessary. Turn the cloth over to the dry side and mop up any remaining cleaner or bits of dust.
Cleaning near the frame of your TV
Wrap your credit card up in the cloth. Make sure you wrap it round several times to 'blunt' the edges. Now wipe with the covered credit card edge from the screen edge towards the center of the plasma screen. Now you should be able to wipe up what was previously stuck at the edges.
Take care of your Plasma or LCD TV
Plasma and LCD TV Screens are porous this means that if you should make sure you remove all the cleaner. Cleaners are formulated not to be absorbed but it is always wise to be sure.
Never use a cloth that is too dirty. Our microfiber cloths can be washed in the machine up to 300 times.
